The Benefits of Membership
Membership in the Hawai‘i Lodging & Tourism Association is a wise business investment! Membership dollars provide many benefits including:
Membership Dues are Tax-Deductible – 77 percent of dues payments and assessments are deductible by the Active (lodging), Allied (vendors), and Special Active members as an ordinary and necessary business expense. Any contributions or gifts to HLTA are not deductible as “charitable contributions” for federal income tax purposes.
Pictoral Directory – This useful tool is also available only to members of the association. This directory is published in the last quarter of the year and includes the name of the lodging/company, address, phone and fax numbers, email address, and the name, title, and photo of that company’s representative.
Membership Roster – This handy guide is available only to members of the association. The roster includes the name of the lodging property or company, address, phone and fax numbers, and the name and title of that company’s representative. Room counts for lodging properties are also included, as is website information. Rosters are updated monthly. Members can receive a roster by contacting the HLTA office.
General Membership Meeting – This weekend event provides a mix of timely seminars, important business sessions, and many opportunities for social networking. Included is a mini-trade show for members to showcase their products and services.
Membership Mixers – Members are able to attend membership mixers throughout the year. These mixers provide opportunities for networking.
Updates & Reminders – This e-newsletter keeps members informed of upcoming HLTA events, movers and shakers in the industry, occupancy highlights, island chapter updates, new members, and more.
Legislative Representation – The HLTA continues to be the watchdog for changes in federal, state, and county government laws, policies, and regulations that impact our members. The HLTA maintains updates on bills during the legislative session and develops a Public Affairs Position Statement on a variety of measures impacting our visitor industry.
Seminars – HLTA organizes a variety of educational programs and seminars throughout the year.
