On January 22, 2016 the Hawai’i Lodging & Tourism Association conducted a walk of the Hawai’i State Capitol on the first Aloha Friday of the 2016 legislative session . There were 11 attendees (plus HLTA staff) in the morning’s walk, and we would like to thank them for their time, support, and participation.
Barry Wallace – Outrigger Enterprises
Dean Nakasone – Outrigger Reef Waikiki Beach Resort
Gayle Miyashiro – Waikiki Resort Hotel
Glenn Vergara – Waikiki Resort Hotel
Kevin Vegas – Grainger
Lisa Paulson – Maui Hotel & Lodging Association
Julie Arigo – Waikiki Parc Hotel
Pohai Ryan – Native Hawaiian Hospitality Association
Rob Robinson – Pacific Beach Hotel
Rick Egged – Waikiki Improvement Association
Sukit Kanaprach – THE Orchid Lei

We visited every legislator , including the offices of the Governor and Lt. Governor , providing them each with a copy of our position statements, a save the date card for our upcoming “Tourism Day at the Capitol”, and a beautiful red, white, and blue orchid lei, generously provided by Sukit Kanaprach and the Orchid Lei Company.

The walk was a huge success as we also managed to sit down and talk with both the Speaker of the House, and Senate President.  Our position statements and Save the Date cards were very well received and we are certainly looking forward to a very productive session.
