On November 22, 2016 the Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association's Oahu Chapter held its 5th annual Ka ‘Ikena Dinner at Kapiolani Community College. Nearly 90 members and guests were in attendance as the students of the KCC Culinary school served up exquisite creations from sauteed scallops with a gingered lomi tomato-sea asparagus salad, to handmade sushi rolls and a dessert table that could truly be called a masterpiece.
This event is an opportunity for our future culinary stars of Hawaii to showcase their talents to our hospitality leaders, and in return the industry's opportunity to support the KCC Culinary Arts program. All proceeds from the Ka ‘Ikena dinner go to the Culinary Arts program and offers resources to help these aspiring young talents to grow. During the event the Hawaii Lodging & Tourism Association awarded its 3rd annual KCC Culinary Arts Scholarship to student recipient Reed Kikuta, who expressed great appreciation for the honor and support.
