Aloha,

I have oft said that the beauty of HLTA truly lies in the depth and breadth of our association. Our membership is incredibly diverse, boasting entities not only from the lodging sector of our industry but also restaurants, retail, small business, air and ground transportation, and attractions. As we continue to make a push to grow our membership roster, I wanted to take a moment to highlight a handful of our newest members.

Four Seasons Resort Hualalai
We are ecstatic to welcome this iconic Hawai'i Island resort to our ranks- especially being that the property is now under the leadership of general manager Charlie Parker, a longtime and active member of HLTA during his previous tenure at the Four Seasons Resort O'ahu at Ko Olina.

NIU Health
NIU Health is a subscription-based urgent-care provider with locations Hawai'i Kai and at Ala Moana Center. For less than $10 per month, subscribers have access to around the clock care both in-person and via telehealth appointments regardless of their insurance. NIU Health also provides extremely affordable prescriptions and diagnostic testing to their members.

CloudWell Health
This organization provides convenient telehealth appointments and consultations with local doctors for absolutely $0 in copay. Accepting all major health insurance providers, CloudWell also simplifies the process of getting prescriptions and prescription refills in just 1-2 days.

Blue Hawaiian Helicopters
Rated Hawai'i's leading helicopter tour company since 1985, Blue Hawaiian Helicopters operated out of each of the major islands and has garnered awards and recognitions from organizations including Tripadvisor, National Geographic, USA Today, HVCB and Hawai'i Magazine for quality of their services.

For more information about promoting membership to potential members, please contact either of our HLTA Membership Committee co-Chairs Robin Kennedy or Glenn Nakamura. They can be reached at rkennedy@hagadonemedia.com and glenn@brycl-resorts.com respectively. You may also contact senior committee advisor Glenn Vergara at gvergara@waikikiresort.com or the committee staff liaison Jared Ellis at jellis@hawaiilodging.org.

Safe Travels Clarification

Since the lifting of interisland travel restrictions, there have been reports of visitors not getting cleared upon arrival in Hawai'i because they have entered an interisland trip into the Safe Travels platform, not realizing that this is no longer needed. These visitors are then showing their QR code for the interisland trip to car rental agencies, for example, which inaccurately reads "Not Screened", leading to the visitor being turned away.

As a reminder, here are the current regulations for incoming travelers:
  • Trans-Pacific travelers will only have one QR code upon arrival.
  • There is no county screening in place.
To break this down further, if a passenger is traveling from San Francisco to Hilo via Honolulu, they only need to enter the San Francisco to Honolulu leg of their in the Safe Travels platform. The QR code that is produced for this trip is the one that will be scanned upon arrival. This same QR code will be will be used to check into their hotel and rent their car on Hawai'i Island. To avoid this, associates who are checking guests in at hotels, rental car agencies, etc., should ask the traveler to produce the QR code only from their initial point of entry to Hawai'i.

If you have any questions or concerns about this clarification, please do not hesitate to contact our offices at any time.

Mahalo,
Mufi
